For those using A/C on ipe I'm looking for any tips on application. I've only use woodtux and penofin (ughh) before and now have a nice Ipe deck I'm gonna put AC on.

Are you doing two coats before wiping, one heavy coat, no wiping?

And I'm looking for opinions on the best color to use. I"ve got Cedar toner, natural tone, cedar semi, and rustic brown in stock. Any blend of colors you guys prefer. Thanks!

From what I here the new Mahogany AC is the way to go. Looks great and is lasting longer then all the other colors on IPE. I have a limited stock coming in soon!

This deck is slated for this weekend but when you do get it in Scott send/bill me for a 5'er or 2 or 3 one gallons (whatever you're getting it)...I def want to give it a try for my next Ipe deck!

Charlie,

From my limited experience, a single decent app. of A-C is the ticket on ipe'. Natural bristle (china) brushing, no wiping.

Remember, A-C is a hybrid oil, the paraffin goes into the wood while the linseed stays toward the top forming a "film".

Pic is a test on a customer's ipe' steps. 3 month old RS med. red verses newly applied A-C mahogany. Obviously, the A-C is still wet.

In my area most people want a natural look, no red. Cedar tone looks good, if you want a little more pigment mix with cedar semi, I've done a cedar tone /rustic brn mix. A cedar tone would look similar to attached pic.
