Summer 2011 Armstrong Clark Contest

Nu-Deck Wood Restoration
Morehead City, NC
Doug Wenzel, owner/operator

This deck is 17 yrs. and, aside from normal greying, it was badly stained and moldy from a daily dousing by his irrigation sprinkler system. There were also remnants of an old (5 yr. or more) water based stain/sealer. A hot tub had to be removed and the 5' x 5' resulting void had to be reframed for the new decking. Several existing deck boards had to be replaced also because of splitting and warping.

The deck cleaned up nicely and 2 coats of Armstrong-Clark Woodland Brown was applied.

This Mahogany deck sat untreated for around 10 years.  We cleaned the entire deck (twice), cleaned all the painted surfaces, brightened the wood, sanded the entire floor, replaced and repainted many rotten spindles, secured the loose railings and stained everything with two coats of Armstrong Clark Mahogany stain.  Homeowners are thrilled with the results and the before and afters certainly explain why!  Lots of careful hand staining around every single one of those white balusters.

Top Dawg Pressure Washing

Augusta, GA

My name is Kevin Stokes and I am the owner/operator of Top Dawg Pressure Washing in Augusta, GA. We are a residential/light commercial pressure cleaning company who also specializes in wood restoration. This particular deck was new construction hence the lack of before pictures. Surface was prepped with a percarbonate cleaner then stained with Armstrong Clark Semi-Transparent Cedar. This was my first deck with a pergola and it was without a doubt a learning experience. Entire project took 3 days to complete from cleaning to staining. The homeowner and I were both extremely pleased with the results. This is my 5th Armstrong Clark deck and the finished product has yet to not impress!

Another deck mauling by a BEHR product!  TimberSeal techs arrived and applied our finish remover to emulsify the BEHR product – then washed, brightened and conditioned the wood.  After a through drying period we returned to buff out the deck and seal it up.  The deck turned out gorgeous and the BEHR was put to tranquilized J  My guys did a phenomenal job on this deck… so much so that the homeowner made her home aid Turkey Chili for them for lunch which was much appreciated!

Custom built chicken coop.  Wood is 150 year old hemlock, salvaged from a dilapidated farm silo.

Stain is Ready Seal medium red pigment.  Owners report that since the restoration, the rooster is now crowing at 5:00 AM each and every morning, the chickens have never been happier, and egg production is up ~ 300%.

The decking is conheart redwood & was p-washed & citralic applied, then sealed with a 50/50 blend of Wood Tux warm honey gold & Armstrong Clark natural.
